What didn't stay in Vegas ... [šŸU]

In partnership with

You know the saying:
ā€œWhat happens in Vegas, stays in Vegasā€

Most of the time, that’s exactly how it should be.
The stories, late nights, half-baked ideas … all better left on the strip.

But this trip was different.

It takes a LOT to impress me.

I’m skeptical by nature … & for good reason.
I’ve been burned personally & professionally.

So when I first saw my name pop up during the book launch, I was giddy.
But that feeling didn’t last long.

The more I connected with other attendees online, the more I saw a sea of red flags … the same bro-marketing nonsense, from the men & women

Needless to say, I didn’t come into this event expecting much … not through networking. But there was also a concern of, ā€œif this is the kind of people Alex is attracting, I may be in the wrong roomā€

I started to get the sense that the ā€œnever meet your idolsā€ saying was going to apply.

As I was walking over from the hotel, the air felt heavy with heat & expectation. I’d already decided this would be a lesson in what not to do.

Turns out, I was half-right … it was a lesson, just not the one I expected.

The room was full of heavy hitters … business owners making serious money (think millions) in everything from affiliate marketing to pest control.

Something unexpected ended up impressing me.
It reminded me how powerful it is to stay open … to take things in before layering on bias.

Alex walked into the room, right on time, to a standing ovation. He blushed a bit, then got right to coaching.

The first 15 minutes alone made the trip worth it.

He started breaking down what he calls the ā€œMozi 6ā€
6 steps/questions to look at when you KNOW you have to do ā€œmoreā€
But can’t seem to make it happen.

It’s a systematic process for clarity in where to focus then how.

& while he was walking through the Mozi 6 with one of the attendees, he casually mentions Eugene Schwartz’s Levels of Awareness.

The room went silent. Most attendees had to pick their jaw up off the floor.

That’s when it clicked … the Mozi 6 wasn’t about adding tactics, it reveals blind spots.
& I was cursing myself for leaving Breakthrough Advertising at the hotel.

Funny enough, I spent more time breaking it down in an earlier email than he did in answering a question.

Turns out, this trip wasn’t going to be one of those ā€œwhat happens in Vegasā€ stories.
You know the kind you laugh about & forget.
This is the kind that sticks with you long after the lights fade.

The moment everything shifted

But that moment slapped me in the face.
HARD … & revealed my own blind spot.
That’s when it hit me … the real reason I was there wasn’t just to learn another framework.
It was to see my own habits in a different light.

& maybe that’s the reason you’re reading this too … to see what you’ve been missing in plain sight.

ā€œYour nose is an inch from your mouth,
but it takes another person to point out you have bad breath.ā€

Alex Hormozi

Because I realized they’re not necessarily ā€œbro-marketingā€ kinda people
They were just getting desperate with ways to sell the same thing to the same audience.
& I realized how much I’ve been holding back.

The Curse of Knowledge (& what it costs us)

I’ve been suffering from a serious Curse of Knowledge.
If these high-earning, seasoned entrepreneurs haven’t been taught this stuff, what else do I know that I’ve assumed everyone else already ā€œgetsā€?

Especially newer solopreneurs like you still trying to get your footing.

That’s on me.
Because my job isn’t just to know … it’s to translate & educate.

So, I’m slowing up to break things down.

& I know I’m not the only one guilty of learning faster than we apply.

Bottom line…

It’s not about what (or how much) you learn.
It’s about what you do DIFFERENTLY now that you have that information.

I’ve talked about the learn, do, teach approach.
But I’m obviously not doing as good a job as I thought.

How about you?

What are YOU doing with the information you get…
→ from books
→ after bootcamps & training
→ this newsletter (& all the others you’re subscribed to)
→ feedback from what’s worked (& hasn’t) in your business

That’s not a rhetorical question.

Hit reply & let me know.
What’s something you’ve been learning but not applying?

If you’re stuck, start by making a list of the books & programs collecting dust…
Then share your market & your metrics

Start with your market & metrics

The Mozi 6 starts by looking at your market.
→ is it big enough?
→ are you able to shift a little for market-adjacent

If the market isn’t keeping you from doing more, look at the metrics.
Do you have the data that tells you what ā€œmoreā€ is?
If not, you need to get that before looking at anything else.

The rest won’t make sense without the first 2 of the Mozi 6…

Then there are 3 more ā€œwhereā€ things to focus on after market & metrics.
& you need to do them in order … no skipping around to something you know better or feels more comfortable … to be most effective.
Which is why I’m not including them here.

Start with looking at your market & metrics.

Once you know where to focus, there’s another ā€œflowchartā€ for the how that makes up the 6th piece.

Then it’s 100% focus on doing more JUST on that until things level off again.

You KNOW you have to do more.
So do I

When we don’t do things in the right order, it becomes a lot of busy-work & staying in motion without getting momentum

What happens in Vegas might usually stay there.
But lessons like this should come home with you.

We’ve got about 10 weeks left in the year to turn things around & hit 2026 like a locomotive at full speed ahead.

Make it a great ā€œ ā€œ week!
