[🐝U] ... but fear the Reaper more than the tax man

Think about the last time you had ZERO choice … you had to act.

Not one of those “I’ll do it tomorrow” or even “I’ll spend some time over the weekend”

I’m talking drop EVERYTHING, nothing else matters, act right now

That urgency changes everything.
Excuses that seem to plague our time & keep us in our comfort zone … they disappear.

Reasons take control & get you moving

We think there’s not enough time in the day … or skills … or discipline … or motivation.

NOPE!

Truth is … your goals are running your life, whether you admit it or not.

Your goals decide what you notice, ignore, & sacrifice.
They’re not random targets you hope to hit

& yes, it helps to have Goldilocks goals

But they’re not just something you write in a notebook.
Goals are psychological & strategic tools for filtering what matters (& doesn’t)

The problem?
We have a really bad habit of letting small, unworthy goals filter out opportunities.
We secretly strive for convenience & comfort

But the second life throws a crisis at you, all those fake filters disintegrate.
When your back’s up against the wall, what matters most becomes crystal clear

When Crisis Forces Clarity …

You get a call at work. There’s been an accident & your partner / parent / child is in the ER
What do you do?
Do you keep working or do you go to the hospital?

I’m going to assume you’re going to drop everything & go…

What if on the way there, you get stuck in traffic or construction?
Do you throw your hands up in the air & say, “oh well, I tried … I guess I go back to work” … or “my driving’s not good enough to get me there”?
… or “oh look, there’s a tire sale. I’m going to go buy a set of winter tires … that will help me get there faster”

I’m going to assume you find those excuses absolutely ridiculous
& that instead of looking for excuses & distractions, you DO look for ANY way around to get to the ER as fast as possible.

But those seemingly silly excuses are more realistic than you’d think.

When my mom made her last trip to the hospital, pretty much everyone knew within a few hours … Bad news travels fast.

I had a cousin who was “monitoring” by asking others how my mom was doing.
She said she “couldn’t come … she was busy”
My mom passed the morning she was “planning” on visiting.
First thing she said to me was, “I would have come if I knew…”

so … she could have & chose not to
That’s not me being bitter … it’s just a too-common reality.

The Lie We Tell Ourselves:
“There’s Still Time”

We always assume there’s time.
We always think the schedule will clear up on its own.
We also have a nasty habit of not always prioritizing things well
& don’t often learn from that first mistake.

4 days later, she did the same thing with my uncle.
Seriously not kidding.

I bluntly asked her if she wanted history to repeat itself.
I didn’t mince words
She dropped everything & went.
My uncle passed a few hours later
& she thanked me for calling her out

Crisis has a way of silencing the distracting noise.
But clarity doesn’t always have to come from pain.

You may think you have time.
& maybe you actually do.
But what are you doing with it?

Are you wasting it on busy excuses that keep you in your “I may not like this but I know it” zone?

Or do you have a reason to drop everything, roll up your sleeves, & get uncomfortable now for what you want?

Why You Fear the Tax Man MORE than Regret …

You can dedicate time to doing taxes on time. You have no problem communicating that need to your friends & family.

So what’s stopping you from doing that for your business … your goals … your future?

What’s the worst thing that could happen if you miss a filing deadline?

I’m pretty sure the tax man isn’t going to complain about giving them more money.

Regret Weighs More than Failure

Regret in not trying is a much heavier burden to bear than failure.

I’ve seen it. I’ve felt it.
& once you truly taste it, it’s not easily forgotten

Progress may never be perfect, but it’s the only antidote I know for regret.

You’re lucky … your question today isn’t if you have time … because you DO

Your Choice. Your Time.

The question is: what are you going to do with it?
You have a choice … but the clock’s ticking
& time isn’t a renewable resource.
