[ššŗ] Banishing "bro-marketing"
Your survey response was loud & clear:
High on the list ā¦
You're tired of āBroā marketing.
š Sports analogies
š Money as the only measure of success
š Lack of transparency
š Over-hyped results
& weāre all tired of each āthingā being the (insert absolute adjective here)?
Seriously, they canāt ALL be the best, fastest-growing, easiest, trendiest, hottest, biggest, money-making whateverā¦

āThere can be only oneā
As much as we hate it, it seems like itās everywhere & thereās no escaping it ā¦
At least it feels that way when it comes to ābrosā doing the bro-marketing.
& you know what really pisses me off?
Itās not just the dudes doing it!
There are aggressive, exaggerated extremes, & manipulative stuff Iāve seen coming from women & women-led businesses, too.
It even unconsciously oozes out of my fingertips when I write.
(Iām embarrassed to admit the # of edits needed to scrub it out ⦠did I miss 1 - or 10? š¤¦)
I canāt even blame binge-watching Season 6 of The Handmaidās Tale.

āBut wait, thereās more!ā
Itās not just on the selling side of things.
Itās the same for the āmansplainingā!
I see too many women repeating the mansplaining of what they hear from male family & friends.
Itās not just the older generation!
So, this ābroā thing isnāt a gender problem.
Itās a ācan we all stop being hypey & scammy?ā thing.
Itās exhausting.
But we can do something about it.
āBe the change you want to see in the worldā
Luckily, I know someone whoās actually doing something about it.
She not only broke free of the bro-marketing, I think sheās leading a movement against it.
Her nameās Lorrie Morgan (not the singer. This Lorrie is more interestingš)

āShe made it. She got out!ā
I discovered her outgoing personality & brilliant writing years ago while working for a collective that supported female entrepreneurs.
& about a year ago, Lorrie started launching anti-bro-speak training.
OK, technically, itās how to write (& sell) to women.
But to me, itās the same thing.
I recommend Lorrieās programs EVERY time someone has issues with ābro-marketingā & mansplaining ⦠starting with this.
Learn how to Turn Women Into Buyers ⦠without alienating the guys ābrosā ⦠for free.
Lesson 1 kicks off with ⦠āThe Bro Marketing Conundrumā
I took the course when Lorrie first launched it a little over a year ago. I loved it so much, I have it bookmarked & reference it to help stop my āoozingā
Yes, itās free, but hereās the fine print.
Fine Print #1
Turn Women Into Buyers is a lead magnet
(youāre included on Lorrieās email list, which you can unsubscribe from anytime.)
Fair?
Fine Print #2
Regular lead magnets clog up your inbox & never get opened. This is āuse it or lose itā.
Thatās not a gimmick. Thereās a reason behind it.
If you donāt take it, it canāt help you.
This drips out in small, bite-sized bits ⦠over 3 days
Itās only about 1 hour-ish ⦠over 3 days!
Finish it, keep it.
Donāt finish? It self-destructs. š
You also get reminders encouraging you to keep going if ālife happensā & get distracted.
Make sense?
Fine Print #3
I asked Lorrie for an affiliate link. That usually means a % of the sale ⦠but since itās $0 you can do the math on how much Iām earning š
Tracking what you find helpful gets you more helpful stuff. It may be from Lorrie, or other courses, books, podcasts, etc. (they wonāt all be free, but Iāll always look for those first)
Thatās my long-winded, babbling brook kinda way to say:
The anti-bro-marketing movement shows you how to write to women.
TL; DR ?
You donāt need:
š« to write like a hype machine to sell
š« sports analogies ⦠to hit a home run with marketing š
š« fake countdown timers & sales
Forget about the fake FOMO (Fear of Missing Out)
And you definitely donāt need to pretend youāre someone youāre not.
What you do need is messaging that:
ā
Connects like a conversation
ā
Speaks to what your people care about
ā
Builds trust without manipulation
ā
& feels good to write (because itās true)
Itās short, itās clear, & it teaches you how to:
š Stop using manipulative tactics
āļø Write in a way that feels good ā to everyone
𤯠Understand how to get to yes (without tricking them)
ā No fake urgency.
ā No ātrending trickā nonsense.
Just real talk & practical help that connects & converts.
Can you find other programs, blogs, podcasts, etc on beating bro-marketing?
Of course you can.
But Iāve seen no one else break things down in a way that makes sense, is useful, & doesnāt seem like AI spit it out without a human fact-checking & proofreading it.
You deserve a successful business that makes you feel good.
& your audience deserves better than mansplaining bro-marketing.
Letās trample the bro-marketing trend together.
BTW, your survey responses (& writing this email) reminded me I need to do a better job of calling out & cutting back on bro-marketing that sneaks into my world.
Thanks for that!
Make it a great week!
EG
